Hi 👋,
I'm writing this after my first day back at work from a much needed holiday. I've spent the last week relaxing, switching off and enjoying the great outdoors, well, when the weather allowed! I even got to visit a birds of prey centre and watch owls silently swooping around. 😍
There's little to update on the project and post front from me this month, I've been spending my evenings away from my laptop, taking time out to relax and also getting back into a routine with home workouts. This month, I share with you some more great resources I've stumbled across including how to get involved in Hacktoberfest! If there’s anything you’d like to see more of in my upcoming newsletters, don’t hesitate to reach out!
🔍Top resources
This month’s recommended resources from across the web and beyond!
Hacktoberfest: Get involved in Hacktoberfest during October and contribute to open source projects! Whether you're a long-time contributor or new to development, it's open to everyone. This will be my first time joining and can't wait to see what exciting projects I can get stuck into!
Algorithmic Justice League: I came across this movement after watching Joy Buolamwini's TED talk on 'How I'm fighting bias in algorithms'. Algorithmic Justice League aims to shift the AI ecosystem towards equitable and accountable AI. Sign up to support the movement and head to their library to get the latest news and research.
AWS Certifications: FreeCodeCamp have put together a 12-hour video(!!!) covering all the material to get you Certified as an AWS Developer Associate. Even if you aren't planning to get certified, you can skip to the relevant part in the video to familiarise yourself with different AWS services. Other certifications are also covered!
📚This month’s reading list
I’ve been mainly reading fiction in the past few months and slowly reread one of my favourite books in September, absorbing all the details I missed the first time - I loved it even more!
#017: Norweigan Wood by Haruki Murakami ✭✭✭✭✭
📘 Currently reading: The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
If you're getting involved in Hacktoberfest, I'd love to hear what projects you plan to contribute to!
Take care and see you next month!
